Derrick Brown, aka D Brown, has released his debut album entitled
"Pure D."
It is available now in
Metro-Atlanta stores. D Brown is an alumnus of Georgia College and State University, and has sung
in numerous weddings and various functions in the Middle Georgia area, including The Cotillion Ball
and The Miss Georgia College Pageant. Derrick was also featured on the New Artist Profile Show at
one of the local radio stations. Come join in the celebration of his new album release at Historic
Douglass Theater, February 7, 2004. There will be free door prizes, signed posters and a number of
other give-aways. Many people dream of becoming a celebrated singer with their own CD Macon-born,
Atlanta's very own "D" has made that dream a reality. His new CD, entitled "Pure D", is a moving
collection of heartfelt ballads, up tempo grooves and provocative songs of hope and inspiration.
"Pure D," two and a half years in the making, features the sultry tenor encompassing a wide range
of musical styles. "D," wrote thirteen of the CD's fifteen tracks. He also produced the CD and sang
background vocals on all selections. He counts a diverse group of musical influences: Donny Hathaway,
Will Downing, Olivia Newton-John, Aretha Franklin and Barbara Streisand - just to name a few. His new
CD reflects this same eclectic range. With songs ranging from the heartfelt to the provocative,
"Pure D" is a musical feast that defies category.
